Having Your Penis Tattooed
This is one area of tattooing that generates a lot of interest (particularly from men) but is rarely done. The main questions are - can it be done, how is it done and does it hurt?
Can It Be Done?
Yes, the entire penis can be tattooed if you want but some men just have the head of the penis inked or have a simple design on the shaft. Try having a look at Google images for the man with the all over dragon penis tattoo which shows how elaborate it can be if you've got the nerve.
How Is It Done?
This aspect, more than any other, probably attracts the most curiosity. If you're just having the head tattooed the penis doesn't need to be erect at any stage. However if the shaft is being done then a reasonably erect penis when stencilling will help but isn't essential. During the actual tattooing it's best that the penis isn't fully erect as any bleeding that occurs will be under maximum pressure which may interfere with the tattooing process. In any case it's difficult for most men to maintain an erection because of the pain and embarrassment factor.
Having a tattoo on a completely flaccid penis is perfectly possible but there will be a lot of stretching of skin involved which makes for slow work.
Does It Hurt?
The simple answer is yes, though some men reckon it's not as bad as you might think. However for most men it probably does hurt a lot. Luckily this area of the body heals quickly so as long as there's good hygiene during the healing process there's little risk of infection.
So what if you decide you really do want a tattooed penis. Think carefully about the design. It can be difficult to get good detail unless you're having it done by a particularly good tattoo artist, so something simple like a tribal design is often a good bet. Also avoid lover's names. It's a sweet idea but if it all falls apart it can be hard for you and any subsequent lovers to live with.
The main problem if you plan to go for it is finding someone to do it. Most tattoo artists won't and those that do will charge a substantial "handling" fee. Something to ask is how many previous tattoos have they done on a penis as it's not a common request and you don't want to the first attempt!
